JES DEAVER, author
Jes is a Central Texas writer and architect exploring how the future, ecology, and built environment connect us to one another. Her unflinching voice brings an authentic point-of-view rooted to the southwest and shaded by her travels across three continents.
Her stories highlighting diverse perspectives and rich histories emanate from her belief that humanity and landscapes are interconnected, and marginalized communities can be empowered. In 2005 her screenplay Drawn, a southern gothic love story between a house and an artist, was a Runner Up for Best Screenplay in The Great American Film Festival.
She currently lectures on the craft of storytelling and film-making to elevate new and underrepresented voices within the design community.
Jes holds a Master of Architecture Degree from the University of Houston Graduate School of Architecture and Design and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Radio-TV-Film from the University of Texas at Austin. She is also a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB).
